Fresh talent takes center stage at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015

In its 15th year,  Lakmé Fashion Week opened doors to aspiring models who showcased their best at the model auditions held at the Lakmé Absolute Salon, Bangalore, for the second consecutive year.

An eclectic panel of judges chose 5 winners after three rigorous and competitive rounds of auditions for the upcoming Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2015. 21 aspiring Indian and international models turned up at the most coveted model hunt of the nation.

“I was quite nervous. I tried not to get my hopes high too much but I guess it all worked out for the best. I can’t believe that I will actually be walking the ramp for the biggest and the most famous fashion week in India – Lakmé Fashion Week.” said one of the winners Nicole Padival

The LFW Model Auditions is by far, India’s most popular and revered launch pad for budding models, having introduced some of the most successful names in the industry like Katrina Kaif, Yana Gupta, Mugdha Godse and Miss India World Kanishta Dhankar, among others. The initiative is an integral part of Lakme Fashion Week’s commitment to continuously provide a platform for new and emerging runway talent.

Saket Dhankar, Head – Fashion, IMG Reliance, said: “Lakmé Fashion Week is known to bring forth some of the finest faces seen on the runway. Model auditions is an integral part of the process each season to discover and infuse new talent into Lakmé Fashion Week. Last season, we were thrilled to have selected some amazing Bangalorean beauties and are happy to be back in here in search of new talent. This season we are elated to have introduced 5 promising faces to the fashion fraternity.”

Leading celebrity fashion model Carol Gracias said: “I have been part of Lakme Fashion Week since 2000 and have always enjoyed the experience. It was lovely to be a part of the jury and I am overwhelmed to see the budding talent in Bangalore.”

Designer Deepika Govind, said: “I am really happy to see so many young girls from Bangalore wanting to pursue modelling as a profession. Being selected for a national platform like Lakmé Fashion Week is an amazing opportunity for them to make it big not only in the Indian, but also global fashion industry”

The jury panel comprised a mix of, fashion experts and stalwarts of the Indian fashion industry, including top designer Deepika Govind; along with Saket Dhankar, Head Fashion, IMG Reliance, Smriti Khullar, Brand Manager, Lakmé and celebrity model Carol Gracias.
