Kesari emerges to be Akshay’s highest first weekend is Canada, Australia

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari’ has raked in some huge box office numbers in International markets in its opening weekend, hauling in over USD 2 mil and cementing itself as one of the biggest opening for an Akshay Kumar film. The film is impressive on multiple levels – be it the portrayal of one of the bravest battles fought in the world, the overall look of the film and a powerful performance by Akshay Kumar as Havildar Ishar Singh which has resulted in building huge curiosity in India as well as in International circuit. Distributed by Zee Studios International, the film has released in over 60 countries and in over 625 screens.

The film has tracked as the highest first weekend opener for an Akshay Kumar film in Canada and Australia and has ranked #6 and #7 in the respective markets. In New Zealand and Fiji the film was ranked at #5, at #12 in the UK and at #8 in Malaysia.

In Netherlands, the film has turned out to be the third biggest opening film by Zee Studios International after Veere Di Wedding and Raazi and by far it’s the biggest release this year.

Kesari is based on the true story of one of the bravest battles that India ever fought – the Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Invaders in 1897.

This is Zee Studios International’s third successful association with Dharma Production after Raazi and Dhadak, with Raazi taking home the Best Film at the Filmfare Awards.
