All eyes may be on Farhan Akhtar’s next directorial – ‘Don 3’ or ‘Jee Le Zaraa’, but he is busy working on projects in front of the camera. Set to debut in Hollywood, Akhtar has been cast as legendary sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar in Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes’ four-film project based on the life of the iconic band, The Beatles.

Titled ‘The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event’, Farhan’s character will showcase the instrumental role of Pandit Ravi Shankar in the band’s journey.

Reacting to the announcement, Farhan shared, “Honoured and grateful to be part of the ever-expanding legacy of The Beatles and of Pandit Ravi Shankarji. Their creative genius is a rite of passage for generation after generation of listeners and I could go on for days about how their music has influenced me and been a companion through the good times and the not so good. Thank you Sam Mendes… been an ardent admirer of all your work, and to be directed by you in this film, is the stuff dreams are made of.”

With each film narrated from the perspective of a Beatle, the series will star Harry Lawtney, Lucy Boynton and Morfydd Clark in key roles.
