The 70th National Film Awards ceremony took place in Delhi on October 8th 2024 and many celebrities including veteran, Mithun Chakraborty were honoured with trophies. While Mithun Da won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Sooraj Barjatya bagged the trophy for Best Director for ‘Uunchai’. Manoj Bajpayee’s work was recognised with a Special Mention for ‘Gulmohar’, the film which also won the Best Hindi Film and Best Dialogue awards. The 70th National Award for the Best Supporting Actress went to Neena Gupta whereas Pritam and AR Rahman won the Best Music Director trophies in music and background score respectively. The magnum opus ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ received Best Male Playback Singer, which was given to Arijit Singh and also the Best Film in the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics) category which Karan Johar received.
