The film industry has been protesting heavily against piracy as this year several movies were leaked on the Internet even before its theatrical release. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar feels that a change in the existing law is the need of the hour. “It is a bailable offence and there is too much money in piracy. So till the law doesn’t change, what can we do? People are stealing and we are losing a lot of money,” she says. Adding to it, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj says, “In France, they let you off for using Torrent twice, but the third time the police will reach your residence.” Bhardwaj’s ‘Udta Punjab’ was the victim of piracy this year.
