John Abraham’s patriotic film ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ released last Friday, but going by its box office numbers, the film seems to have suffered because of the Indian Premiere League (IPL). With the cricketing tournaments’ semi-finals and finals scheduled over the weekend, ‘Parmanu’ collected Rs 4.82 crore on Friday, Rs 7.64 crore on Saturday and Rs 8.32 crore on Sunday. Having released on 1,935 screens, ‘Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran’ managed to mint Rs 20.78 crore in its opening weekend whereas the trade opines that the number could have been higher. And this was possible had the film not clashed with the popular cricketing tournament.
