Bollywood is going hammer and tongs about making films based on real life stories. The biopics are in currently rage but there was also time when the films were being made from novels. Films like ‘Devdas’, ‘Parineeta’, ‘Omkara’ stand testimony to that. While at a book launch event, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was asked if books should be adapted into films, the actor replied, “It all depends on various factors. Sometimes you have to simply translate the book whereas at times you have to make an adapt it. Since books have a lot of material, if you want to turn it into a web series then you can part detailed information about the story. But if you want to make it into a film, certain special incidents from that will develop the story.” Nawaz recently played Urdu author and playwright Saadat Hasan Manto in the film ‘Manto’, which was an autobiography.
