Indian filmmakers and actors have been acknowledged by the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, inviting them as new members. Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Anupam Kher and Ritesh Batra have been invited to join the Oscar Academy this year, which boasts of an addition of over 842 artistes and professionals from 59 countries. Apart from these well-known faces, visual effects expert Sherry Bharda, who has worked on films like ‘Hichki’ and ‘Sui Dhaaga: Made In India’, and Srinivas Mohan, who has done projects like ‘2.0’ and ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, have also been invited. Previously The Academy has invited Indian celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Aditya Chopra, Priyanka Chopra, Tabu and Anil Kapoor to be a part of their elite club.
