Shekhar Kapur was declared as the President of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and Chairman of the institute’s governing council yesterday. India’s Information & Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar announced the same as he said, “I am happy to inform that renowned international film personality Shekhar Kapur has been appointed as the President of FTII Society and Chairman of the Governing Council of FTII. Mr Kapur, who has a vast experience, will add more value to the Institute. I am sure everybody will welcome his appointment.” BP Singh, who is the producer of the super-successful and one of the longest-running TV shows ‘CID’, will make way for Kapur. Way back in 1983, Shekhar Kapur directed ‘Masoom’ which was his first movie as the filmmaker. Since then, he’s become an Internationally renowned director with the Academy Award Nominated ‘Elizabeth’ and the National Award winner ‘Bandit Queen’.
