The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), the union of film industry workers, has requested the government to allow the industry to resume shooting immediately. All shoots were on hold thanks to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in India which happened last month. FWICE has now sent a letter to the Maharashtra government stating, “We would like to draw your attention to the numerous requests sent to you by the FWICE and the coordination committee regarding our request for resumption of work in the media and entertainment industry. However, none of our letters have been responded by your good office and no decision has been taken on our requests. Hence we hereby request you to please provide us with a special permission to resume the work of the industry.” The government is expected to reply soon.
