Bollywood saw two medium budget films releasing on July 15th, ‘Hit – The First Case’ and ‘Shabaash Mithu’. While ‘Hit – The First Case’ stars Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, ‘Shabaash Mithu’ features Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. The thriller ‘Hit – The First Case’ could manage to open at Rs 1.35 crore at the box office and the collection steadily kept growing over the weekend. At the end of opening weekend, the film earned another Rs 4.24 crore, taking its total to Rs 6.24 crore in four days of release. ‘Shabaash Mithu’, on the other hand, could not perform that well. The first day collection did not reach half a crore and the four-day collection stood at Rs 1.80 crore. Based on the theme of cricket, Taapsee playing Indian women cricket team captain Mithali Raj, it still failed to attract audiences into theatres. With ‘Hit – The First Case’ and ‘Shabaash Mithu’ not generating the kind of response everyone expected, some makers of smaller budget films are contemplating whether or not to release their films in theatres or straight on streaming platforms.
