Despite having stars like Ranbir Kapoor in double role, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor, their recently released film ‘Shamshera’ could not hold fort at the box office. The film released on July 22nd and in India it collected a modest sum of Rs 10.25 crore at the ticket windows on opening day. Saturday and Sunday should have seen a huge jump in collection, but that didn’t happen. Saturday saw collections staying stable at Rs 10.50 crore, whereas Sunday gave the makers another Rs 11 crore. For the weekend, ‘Shamshera’ earned about Rs 31.75 crore at the box office which less than the expected of Rs 50 or even 100 crore many insiders were predicting. The film is allegedly made at a huge budget of Rs 150 crore and sees Ranbir Kapoor return to the big screen after a hiatus of four long years with last being ‘Sanju’ in 2018.
