Pradeep Sarkar who was known as one of the finest filmmakers in Bollywood passed away at the age of 68. Sarkar was reportedly on dialysis for quite some time and his potassium level dropped drastically. He was immediately rushed to a hospital around 3am but could not survive. Pradeep Sarkar directed ‘Parineeta’, ‘Mardaani’ among others, out of which the former was his debut directorial in Hindi cinema. Fondly known as Dada, he also directed Deepika Padukone and Neil Nitin Mukesh in ‘Lafangey Parindey’. Sarkar was a multi-talented personality as he also wrote and produced ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag: Journey of A Woman’ apart from directing films. He had also dabbled in directing music videos and was associated with the band Euphoria in which he shot hit numbers like ‘Dhoom Pichak Dhoom’ and ‘Maeri’. He will be missed and his work will be remembered and studied for generations to come.
