Shah Rukh Khan’s palatial bungalow in Mumbai is an envy of many. The actor heavily invested in the sea-facing property decades ago and supposedly ended up with no money to do the interiors! At a recent event, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan appeared together to launch the latter’s coffee table book and that’s where the actor revealed this interesting anecdote, “When we bought Mannat, it was way beyond our means. And once we were done buying the house, we didn’t have the money to decorate it. We hired a designer, only to realise we couldn’t afford him.” Finding a way out, SRK hatched a plan to do the interior designing of his palatial bungalow. “So I turned to Gauri, as she had artistic talent, and asked her to be the designer for our house. Mannat started like that, and over time, we earned and kept buying little stuff for the house. We even once went to South Africa to buy leather for the sofas, and I think that training ground got her into designing,” added King Khan.
