The Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran ‘Drishyam’ franchise, which itself is a remake of a Malayalam movie by the same name is all set to get a further remake. Korea’s Anthology Studios has collaborated with India’s Panorama Studios for the remake of the ‘Drishyam’ franchise in Korea. This was announced at the India Pavilion in Cannes in the presence of Kumar Mangat Pathak representing Panorama Studios and former Warner Bros’ local Korean production head, Choi Jae-won (aka Jay Choi). Speaking about the project, Pathak said, “I’m excited that the ‘Drishyam’ franchise is being made in Korean. All these years, we have been inspired by the Korean fare, now they have found a muse in one of our films. What can be a bigger achievement for the Indian film fraternity? This is the beginning of a valuable cultural exchange between both the countries and their film industries.” The original Malayalam-language ‘Drishyam’ (2013) featured Mohanlal in the lead role and the same was recreated in Hindi in 2015 with Ajay Devgn. Its sequel, ‘Drishyam 2’, emerged as one of the biggest Bollywood hits of 2022.
