Sharmila Tagore revealed on a talk show that she recently battled cancer. Sharmila and Saif Ali Khan were invited on Karan Johar;s show where the septuagenarian said that she had a big health scare. “It was at the height of Covid-19. They hadn’t really grappled with Covid-19 at that time, we were not vaccinated. After my cancer… They didn’t want me to take that risk,” also talking about the film which she missed due to her ill health. Karan Johar said that he wanted Sharmila to feature in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, “I’d offered Sharmilaji the part played by Shabanaji. She was my very first choice. But because of health reasons at that time, she couldn’t say yes. It is a regret I have.” Instead, Sharmila Tagore returned to acting with the OTT film ‘Gulmohar’ co-starring Manoj Bajpayee, Suraj Sharma and others.
