Bollywood has crazy star power and an equally crazy fan following. Stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and many others enjoy an unlimited quota of their respective fandom. One such fan had gone to court with a complaint saying the ‘Jabra Fan’ song from Shah Rukh Khan’s movie ‘Fan’ was not played in the theaters even though it was shown in the promos and trailers. Afreen Fatima Zaidi said that she felt cheated and asked for compensation of Rs 10,000 and an additional cost of Rs 5,000 towards litigation. Since she received this compensation from the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), Yash Raj Films (YRF), under whose production ‘Fan’ was made, moved the Supreme Court. The apex court set aside the earlier order of the NCDRC and sided with the production house saying there was no deficiency in service as it is neither an offer nor a contract.
