Kriti Sanon debuted as a producer at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) showcasing her film ‘Do Patti’, which premiered on Netflix. During the event she addressed one of Bollywood’s most discussed topics – nepotism. The actress who earned a National Award for her role in ‘Mimi’, pointed out that the public’s fascination with star kids often overshadows the industry’s broader dynamics. She explained that Bollywood’s top filmmakers are eager to collaborate with these star children because they are responding to audience demand. At a conference, Kriti stated, “I feel the industry is not so much responsible for nepotism. It’s also the media and the audience. The audiences want to watch what the media is putting about certain star kids. Because the audience is interested in them, the industry feels that since the audience is interested let’s make a movie with them. So I think it’s a circle.” Talking about this trilogy, of the media, audience, and industry, she continued, “But I feel if you are talented, you will get there. If you’re not talented, and if the connect is not there with the audiences you will not get there.” Kriti, recognised for her roles in ‘Heropanti’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’, ‘Luka Chuppi’, ‘Panipat’ and ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’, continues to evolve in her career.
