With ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ soaring past the ₹200 crore mark worldwide, Aamir Khan has more than one reason to celebrate. The actor recently threw a celebratory gathering in Mumbai bringing together the film’s cast and crew for a night of gratitude and joy. But the accolades don’t stop there – India’s multiplex exhibitors and theatre owners are preparing to honour Aamir for his bold decision to keep the film off streaming platforms. “Since I haven’t sold the OTT rights and our film is not releasing on OTT, perhaps All India Theatre Owners have decided to felicitate me for the step that I have taken. I am happy that they thought about it,” Aamir shared, expressing that he feels “very humbled”. Adding to the recognition, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) has named Aamir Khan as the chief guest for its 16th edition set to run from August 14th to 24th. The festival will pay tribute to his cinematic legacy with a special retrospective, spotlighting his enduring impact on Indian cinema.
