Despite a crowded box office and the arrival of new contenders, Aamir Khan and Genelia D’Souza’s poignant sports comedy ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ continues to shine well into its third week. The film which has struck an emotional chord with urban audiences, crossed the ₹150 crore milestone in India on its 18th day in theatres. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, it earned ₹1.35 crore on Monday, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹150.05 crore. While its momentum has naturally slowed the film’s staying power – especially in metropolitan areas – remains impressive. Monday’s average occupancy hovered around 10.39 percent, peaking at 13.02 percent during night shows. Evening and afternoon slots followed closely with 12.59 percent and 9.54 percent respectively, while morning shows saw a modest 6.40 percent. However, the film now finds itself in a more competitive landscape. Anurag Basu’s ensemble drama ‘Metro In Dino’, targeting a similar demographic, has begun to draw attention. Meanwhile, Hollywood heavyweights like ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ and Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ are also carving out space in multiplexes, subtly shifting audience dynamics in major cities.
