‘War 2’ stormed into cinemas on August 14th bringing together Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR in a high-octane spectacle from the YRF Spy Universe. Even with Rajinikanth’s ‘Coolie’ competing for attention, ‘War 2’ has carved out a solid presence at the box office. In just four days, the film has raked in ₹174.75 crore net domestically, with a gross of ₹208.25 crore. Sunday’s earnings dipped slightly to ₹32.15 crore from Saturday’s ₹33.25 crore, but the momentum remains strong. Overseas, the film added another ₹60 crore gross, pushing its global total to ₹268.25 crore. That places it fifth among India’s top earners of 2025 – behind ‘Chhaava’ (₹800 crore), ‘Saiyaara’ (₹547 crore), ‘Coolie’ (₹385 crore) and ‘Housefull 5’. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, ‘War 2’ may be winning at the box office, but it’s facing turbulence with critics who’ve called out its uninspired screenplay and underwhelming visual effects. Still, the numbers suggest audiences are showing up – whether for the action, the stars, or the sheer scale of it all. Or is there another story behind it?
