The trailer of ‘Dhurandhar’ has been out for more than a week, yet the film remains a hot topic across digital platforms. Speculation quickly followed its release, with whispers suggesting the story mirrored the life of Major Mohit Sharma – the decorated officer who assumed the identity of Iftikhar Bhatt to penetrate Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s. Ranveer Singh’s role was even rumoured to be modelled on him, fuelling anticipation among audiences. But director Aditya Dhar has stepped in to put the chatter to rest. After Major Sharma’s brother, Madhur Sharma, publicly sought clarity on X, Dhar responded with a firm statement: “Hi, sir – our film ‘Dhurandhar’ is not based on the life of brave heart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM. This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on Mohit sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honours his sacrifice for the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us. Jai Hind.” Major Mohit Sharma, who laid down his life in 2009, was posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra. Meanwhile, ‘Dhurandhar’ is gearing up for its December 5th release boasting a powerhouse cast that includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
