The controversy surrounding ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has shifted from cinema halls to the courtroom. Concerns raised by a member of the Sashastra Seema Bal reportedly argue that the film may have crossed a dangerous line by portraying military strategies and intelligence practices in ways that could compromise national security. The Delhi High Court, while not issuing a ban despite the demand for it, instructed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Central Board of Film Certification to treat the petition itself as a formal representation and evaluate the risks described. The petitioner’s counsel allegedly emphasised that certain sequences in the Ranveer Singh starrer reveal operational details and locations with a level of realism that could aid hostile groups in decoding patterns used by Indian forces and spy agencies. The plea also pressed for the creation of clear rules governing films that dramatize espionage and covert missions. With the court’s directive, the responsibility now rests with the authorities to decide whether the movie’s creative liberties have endangered sensitive information or simply pushed the boundaries of cinematic storytelling.
