The highly anticipated ‘Ramayana’ by director Nitesh Tiwari has attracted significant industry interest culminating in a strategic partnership that strengthens its market positioning. Dharma Productions, the banner helmed by Karan Johar has reportedly joined forces to manage the theatrical distribution of the film across India featuring actor Ranbir Kapoor in a lead role. This collaboration marks a notable addition to the project’s growing list of stakeholders. Producer Namit Malhotra conducted an extensive showcase of approximately 30 minutes of content from the film to multiple distribution entities in pursuit of the right partner for the venture. The screening supposedly generated considerable enthusiasm among industry players with Dharma Productions standing out as particularly interested in participating with the project following their viewing of the material. Reports claim that negotiations between the production team and Dharma Productions began at an initial valuation of approximately Rs 500 crore, ultimately settling at a significantly lower figure of around Rs 250 crore. The studio’s involvement in domestic distribution now positions them to orchestrate a comprehensive strategy aimed at maximising the film’s presence and accessibility throughout various regions and markets across India on an expansive platform.
