Nana Patekar passed away on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75 following a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. Found unconscious in the early morning hours, he was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where medical teams performed CPR for approximately 45 minutes but were unable to revive him. The veteran performer, who became an iconic figure in both Hindi and Marathi cinema over decades, was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse near Pune, Maharashtra. Patekar earned widespread acclaim for his powerful portrayals in films including the 1989 crime drama ‘Parinda’, the 1994 political thriller ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Prahaar: The Final Attack’ (which he also directed), ‘Agni Sakshi’ and ‘Khamoshi: The Musical’.
