Bringing the legendary clash of Ravana and Jatayu from mythology to cinema proved exceptionally challenging for filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari for his magnum opus ‘Ramayana’. A single combat sequence alone reportedly demanded six-and-a-half years of meticulous craftsmanship from his expansive production team. The mythological adaptation, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, required coordinating thousands of craftspeople and technical specialists to authentically visualise this iconic battle. Particularly demanding was the creation of the Pushpak Viman – Ravana’s supernatural aircraft. The design phase consumed roughly two years as the creative team cycled through approximately 40 to 50 iterations before settling on their final vision. This painstaking attention to detail across every aspect of the film underscores the tremendous effort required to translate ancient Hindu mythology into modern cinematic spectacle.
