Shah Rukh Khan has roped in Alia Bhatt to play the lead in his next production venture, titled ‘Darlings’. The film is a quirky mother-daughter story and when it was narrated to Alia, the actress instantly signed on the dotted line. ‘Darlings’ will mark the directorial debut of Jasmeet K Reen, who has written films like ‘Force 2’, ‘Fanney Khan’ and ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’. ‘Darlings’ is set against the backdrop of a middle-class family with Shefali Shah playing Alia’s mom. The film traces the lives of two women, as they find courage and love in exceptional circumstances. ‘Darlings’ also features Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew. The film is all set to go on the floors in Mumbai and the makers are planning to release the film this year itself.
