World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28 every year, and Amitabh Bachchan promoted the cause calling for more awareness. Being infected with Hepatitis B, the ‘Sholay’ actor shares his incident, “Hepatitis B hit me accidentally. After the accident on the sets of ‘Coolie’, I was infused with the blood of about 200 donors and 60 bottles of blood was injected into my system. In 2000, through my family doctor, I went through a rampant test and he detected that I had indeed been infected by Hepatitis B as 75 percent of my liver had been damaged.” Bachchan is associated to many other awareness campaigns as well.
