Anupam Kher’s face has been linked to a rather quirky case of counterfeit currency. The fraudsters used the veteran actor’s face to replace Mahatma Gandhi on 500-rupee notes. This incident came to light after a businessman filed a complaint with the Ahmedabad police reportedly citing a scam of fake notes worth Rs 1.60 crore. Anupam Kher also reacted to the news reports with an amused response. The veteran actor took to social media and wrote in Hindi, “‘Lo, kar lo baat.’ My photo instead of Gandhiji’s photo on the 500-rupee notes? Anything can happen!” Currently, Kher is busy with his next ambitious directorial, ‘Tanvi The Great’. He had been working on this musical story of passion and courage, as he calls it, for the past three years and it finally went on the floors this March.
