Once known for quietly immersing himself in hours-long studio sessions, Arijit Singh now stands as a symbol of what musical mastery can command in Bollywood’s booming performance scene. His voice has become synonymous with romantic ballads and heartfelt longing, making him a fixture at high-profile events. As the music industry shifts toward spectacular live shows and premium experiences, composer Monty Sharma – whose work includes cinematic gems like ‘Devdas’ and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ – shared insights into how artist valuations have skyrocketed. In a conversation with Lallantop, he revealed, “When Arijit used to come and sit with me, he used to sit for six hours straight. Now, he charges Rs 2 crore for a performance, for a show. So if someone wants to do a show, they do give Rs 2 crore.” Behind the staggering numbers lies a tale of talent, timing and a changing industry that now places extraordinary value on live musical experiences.
