Veteran Bollywood actress Asha Parekh will be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year. Thus, Asha Parekh will become the 52nd recipient of the prestigious award once conferred upon her by the President of India Draupadi Murmu. Announcing the winner, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said, “I am honoured to announce that the Dadasaheb Phalke selection jury has decided to recognise and award Smt Asha Parekhji for her exemplary lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award shall be presented by the Hon President of India at 68th NFA in Vigyan Bhawan.” The said ceremony will be held during the National Film Awards in Delhi on September 30. Asha Parekh’s body of work includes ‘Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai’ (1961), ‘Teesri Manzil’ (1966), ‘Kati Patang’ (1970) and many others.
