Bollywood lost legendary filmmaker Basu Chatterjee who passed away due to age related ailments. The 90-year-old filmmaker reportedly died in his sleep on Thursday morning. A handful of family members and friends were present during the last rites held at the Santacruz Crematorium. Amitabh Bachchan penned a memorable note remembering the filmmaker, “Prayers and Condolences on the passing of Basu Chatterjee… a quiet, soft-spoken, gentle human. His films reflected the lives of middle-India. I did ‘Manzil’ with him. A sad loss…in these climes often remembered for ‘Rim Jhim Gire Saawan’.” The brilliant filmmaker that he was, Basu Chatterjee had delivered superhits like ‘Chhoti Si Baat’, ‘Rajnigandha’, ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’ and ‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’ to name a few.
