Amitabh Bachchan penned a memorable note remembering the filmmaker, “Prayers and Condolences on the passing of Basu Chatterjee… a quiet, soft-spoken, gentle human. His films reflected the lives of middle-India. I did ‘Manzil’ with him. A sad loss…in these climes often remembered for ‘Rim Jhim Gire Saawan’.” The brilliant filmmaker that he was, Basu Chatterjee had delivered superhits like ‘Chhoti Si Baat’, ‘Rajnigandha’, ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’ and ‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’ to name a few.
