It’s now an all-out war! Filmmakers like Anubhav Sinha, Sudhir Mishra and Hansal Mehta among others have taken the baton in their hands after Kangana Ranaut blew the bugle recently. After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide, many celebrities join hands calling it a systematic end. Building on the same, Sinha, Mishra and Mehta recently took to Twitter to call it quits from ‘Bollywood’. Though they remain filmmakers and will continue making flicks in the Indian film industry, they say they have ‘resigned’ from the term. “Enough! I hereby resign from Bollywood. Whatever the f**k that means,” wrote Sinha in angst. On the other hand Mishra said, “What’s Bollywood? I came to be a part of cinema inspired by Satyajit Ray, Raj Kapoor, Guru Dutt, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and Shekhar Kapur. That’s where I’ll always be.” Sudhir also mentioned many famous filmmakers in his Tweet. On his call of “Bollywood ‘chhodo’”, Mehta said, “‘Chhod diya’. It never existed in the first place.” If this continues, will we see a mass exodus in the coming days?
