Yesterday, director Hansal Mehta got upset for not knowing much about his 2012-2013 film ‘Shahid’. The film starred Rajkummar Rao in the lead role who played Human Rights lawyer Shahid Azmi. The gripping tale narrates an exemplary commitment to justice by an ordinary citizen of the country. Hansal was disheartened as the film never made it to any OTT platform, “I am sad that ‘Shahid’ is not on any OTT platform. I have no idea who owns the rights to the film anymore and where its original version even is. It is a personal tragedy for me and for all those who toiled to make this film against all odds. It is a tragedy for Shahid Azmi.” The director even informed that the film, “Premiered at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2012, won two National Awards, also numerous other awards, travelled the world and is rated 8.2 on IMDb. But no takers?” Some fans informed that it was indeed available on Amazon or Netflix but at the time of checking, it did not appear anywhere.
