The 94th Academy Awards or the Oscars were held on March 27th. And while many celebrated as their favorite stars and films were nominated and won the coveted trophy, back in Bollywood there was mixed emotions. Two industry veterans, Dilip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar were not mentioned in the Oscars’ Memoriam section. Fans erupted in anger pointing to what they believed was a huge error, that too from such a world-renowned prestigious organization. Dilip Kumar had passed away on July 7, 2021 while Lata Mangeshkar left us on February 6 this year. The awards ceremony, which recognizes talents from all over the world, has a Memoriam segment which includes entertainment industry veterans from passing away in the previous year. Many Indian cinema artists have been included in past shows, which is why people are questioning the omission of greats like Dilip Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar this year.
