Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Gold’ and John Abraham-starrer ‘Satyameva Jayate’ have fetched humongous numbers at the box office as the films released on the occasion of India’s Independence Day. ‘Gold’ collected Rs 25.25 crore, getting a lot of traction from multiplexes across major cities. ‘Satyameva Jayate’, on the other hand, fetched Rs 20.52 crore on the opening day, doing really well in multiplexes and single screen theatres. With two big Bollywood films releasing on the same day and emerging victorious at the box office, it can be noted as the beginning of a new trend when filmmakers will not shy away from sharing release dates.
