Bollywood took centre stage on June 23rd as President Droupadi Murmu presided over the second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, where several film and music figures received national honors. Among the entertainment industry names recognized were actor-filmmaker R Madhavan, who received the Padma Shri and iconic playback singer Alka Yagnik was awarded the Padma Bhushan. Yagnik, who has reportedly been managing a hearing loss related condition for some time was accompanied to the dais with assistance from a staff member. The day also carried a bittersweet note for fans of classic screen acting with Satish Shah receiving the honour posthumously in recognition of his work across cinema and television. This ceremony came after the first Civil Investiture Ceremony held on May 26th and one of the most moving moments there was the posthumous Padma Vibhushan for veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025.
