‘Jersey’, ‘RRR’ and ‘Prithviraj’ makers postponed the release dates of their respective films due to the growing threat of the new Covid-19 variant. If the makers are compelled to push the release dates of their films ahead even further, the fraternity could lose crores of rupees starting immediately. ‘Jersey’ and ‘RRR’ had reportedly spent about Rs 10 crore on publicity including TV, print and Internet. The same couldn’t be recovered as the movies were postponed indefinitely from their original dates of December 31st 2021 and 7th January 2022 respectively. ‘RRR’ is said to be made on a massive budget of over Rs 350 crore. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Pathan’ shoot also got postponed yet again by a month because of the filming halting in Spain. Katrina Kaif’s ‘Merry Christmas’ couldn’t bring cheer in the festive season as the Maharashtra government imposed Section 144 which does not allow more than four people to gather together. The 5 pm to 5 am restriction has stopped makers to shoot at nights. Her Delhi schedule of ‘Tiger 3’ is also on hold. According to a few estimates, the film industry could finally stare at a whopping Rs 500 crore a month losses, till the time it’s back to business.
