Mumbai Police have directed actor Imran Khan to leave India, setting October 28th as the deadline for his departure. The notice came several days after Imran took part in a protest in Mumbai organised by the political group Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Imran is the nephew of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, but he is not an Indian citizen. Police said the action was taken because of his participation in the demonstration while holding foreign citizenship: “Action has been taken against Imran Khan under the relevant provision of the Immigration Act over his participation in the protest despite not being an Indian citizen.” Imran Khan is supposedly a US citizen and holds an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, a status distinct from full Indian citizenship. The police notice gives him until October 28th to leave the country.
