Saif Ali Khan’s latest outing on Netflix ‘Kartavya’, arrives under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment which is backed by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan. Known for immersing himself in earthy roles, Saif takes on a desi persona in this project. In the lead-up to the release he reflected on the challenge of mastering the Haryanvi dialect, “Getting the dialect right was probably the trickiest part because it is not just about learning lines, it is about understanding the culture and the nuances behind the words. Every accent carries a certain identity and honesty and that was important for me to capture.” Sharing how he worked through the process, Saif added, “It definitely took time and a lot of practice. I kept reading and listening. Repeating lines constantly and slowly, it started feeling more natural. I still feel like there is always room to improve but (director) Pulkit was very happy with where we reached. Honestly, with enough practice, accents become much easier and I think I can pull off a fairly convincing Haryanvi accent now.” The film also brings together talents like Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Manish Chaudhari and Saurabh Dwivedi in significant roles.
