Shahid Kapoor’s social drama ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ highlights electricity issues of small towns and villages like running high bills and power outage. Shahid explains why he chose to do this film. “The reason we made this film is because there is a certain section of people beyond your metropolis, who face a shortage of electricity. Around 32 million people don’t have a single light bulb in their homes. When I learnt about this, it came as a huge shock to me,” says Shahid. The actor plays a money-minded lawyer in the film, who later fights against the corrupt electricity companies. ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ trailer received many positive reactions and is scheduled to release on September 21.
