The highly anticipated film Gulabo Sitabo will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 12th 2020. The family friendly comedy will be available for fans from all over the world to enjoy in the safety and comfort of their own homes. The Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer tells the story of an old landlord, Mirza, and his tenant, Baankey. The two are equally sly and crafty, making for hilarious banter and playful chaos. The slice of life comedy is directed by Shoojit Sircar, who has previously worked with both stars separately. The director will be uniting both actors on screen for the first time.

The film title has been inspired by the folk puppets local to Uttar Pradesh. The puppet show features two puppets named Gulabo and Sitabo, and the show revolves around two rivals who often trade insults and funny digs. Speaking on his inspiration, Shoojit Sircar said, “We came across the Gulabo-Sitabo form of puppetry while making the movie, and we decided it could be a good metaphor for the story”.
