Sonu Sood recently found himself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons after a viral video showed him riding a bike in Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh without a helmet or safety gear. The internet was quick to react, pointing out the irony – Sood had previously been an outspoken advocate for road safety and responsible travel. In the widely circulated clip, the actor is seen shirtless wearing sunglasses and leading a group of riders through the breathtaking, snow-covered valley. The footage was originally shared by an Instagram page called Ride With Victor. Interestingly, other videos on the same page depict Sood wearing a helmet and safety gear yet it was the helmetless moment that sparked controversy.
The Lahaul-Spiti police took note of the video and addressed the issue on X. In an official statement, they acknowledged the clip’s circulation and announced an investigation. “A video is going viral on social media in which a Bollywood actor is seen violating traffic rules in Lahaul-Spiti district. According to preliminary information, the video appears to be from the year 2023. The task of investigating the authenticity has been handed over to Dy SP Headquarters, Kyelang,” read their post. They further emphasised that necessary legal action would be taken, urging citizens and tourists to adhere to traffic regulations and practice responsible behaviour. The timing of this controversy has drawn even more attention as it comes just days after Sood participated in a road safety campaign promoting helmet use and adherence to traffic laws. As of now, the actor has not responded to the growing debate surrounding the viral video.
