Singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, known for Hindi songs from films like ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’, ‘Appu Raja’, ‘Saajan’ and ‘Roja’, has been in the hospital since last week. The crooner has Covid-19 and was rushed to the MGM Healthcare medical facility in Chennai on August 5th. In a sudden development, his health went from bad to worse. “In a late night development on 13th August, his condition has deteriorated. Based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is on life support. His condition remains critical,” reads the hospital’s official statement. Balasubrahmanyam ruled the singing industry in 80s and 90s. Apart from his countless hits in the South, Bollywood fans still hum numbers like ‘Mere Rang Mein Rangnewali’, ‘Dekha Hai Pehli Baar Saajan Ki Aankhon Mein Pyaar’ and ‘Didi Tera Devar Diwana’ among others. We wish S.P. Balasubrahmanyam a speedy recovery.
