The 2025 Met Gala saw a remarkable shift with Indian stars making a grand entrance onto the prestigious carpet. While Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra had previously represented India solo, this year welcomed a wave of fresh faces. Diljit Dosanjh, Kiara Advani, and Manish Malhotra made their much-anticipated debuts, but the most electrifying moment belonged to none other than Bollywood’s undisputed king – Shah Rukh Khan.

Making history as the first Indian male actor to grace the Met Gala, Shah Rukh Khan captivated audiences in a bespoke Sabyasachi ensemble. His look paid homage to the intertwined legacies of Black and Indian dandyism celebrating the art of refined tailoring. Draped in a floor-length coat crafted from Tasmanian superfine wool, he paired it with a black crêpe de Chine silk shirt, left open at the chest, tailored wool trousers, and a pleated satin ‘kamarbandh’. His accessories, also designed by Sabyasachi, featured a striking stack of chains, anchored by a crystal-studded pendant shaped as the letter ‘K’ – a nod to his iconic title, King Khan. To complete the regal aesthetic, he carried a Bengal Tiger Head cane, adding an air of grandeur to his presence.

Diljit Dosanjh, meanwhile, embraced heritage with a look inspired by Sir Bhupinder Singh, the extravagant Maharaja of Patiala. Kiara Advani stunned in Gaurav Gupta couture, marking her Met Gala debut in a breathtaking black gown adorned with a metallic breastplate and a flowing white train – her first public appearance flaunting her baby bump. Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a seasoned Met Gala attendee, marked her fifth appearance in a sharp polka dot suit by Balmain, styled by Olivier Rousteing, effortlessly channelling a modern take on old Hollywood glamour.

This year’s Met Gala was a defining moment for Indian representation on the global fashion stage, proving that Bollywood’s influence extends far beyond cinema.
