Sushmita Sen, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and even comedian Vir Das were nominated for the 2021 Emmy Awards in different categories. Sadly this year, all three lost out to others. Sushmita Sen’s much-applauded show on Disney+ Hotstar, ‘Aarya’, was nominated in the Best Drama Series category, but lost to Israel’s ‘Tehran’. Nawazuddin Siddiqui was nominated in the Best Actor category for his role in ‘Serious Men’. But the jury chose Scottish actor David Tennant for ‘Des’. Vir Das, who was recently embroiled in the ‘Two Indias’ controversy, also lost after being nominated for Netflix’s ‘Vir Das: For India’ stand-up comedy special.
