Tanya Maniktala is stepping into a role that promises to challenge the very foundation of India’s academic machinery. In Rajkummar Rao’s second production venture – a yet-to-be-titled drama – she joins Keerthy Suresh and Rajkummar himself under the direction of Aditya Nimbalkar, whose breakout film ‘Sector 36’ (2024) earned critical attention. Set to begin filming in November, Tanya will be on set for a focused 30-day shoot. The film confronts the commodification of education and the psychological strain placed on students, probing the rigid definitions of achievement and failure that shape young lives. Tanya’s character emerges as a voice of dissent, questioning the ethical compromises baked into the system. Sources suggest she was Aditya’s top pick for the part – a casting choice that speaks volumes about the impact her performance is expected to deliver.
