Prakash Jha is gearing up to dissect the state of Indian democracy in ‘Janadesh’. He’s enlisting Tusshar Kapoor to embody a composite character forged from real-life dramas rather than a singular public figure. The veteran director and Kapoor have immersed themselves in intimate workshops, mapping out the role’s hidden motivations and the true events that inspired it ensuring every gesture resonates with authenticity. Far from a routine political yarn, ‘Janadesh’ is pitched as an exploration of democracy’s triumphs and fractures – stories Jha describes as crucial for understanding its evolution. Meanwhile, Kapoor will pivot back to lighter fare later in the year, joining the all-star riot ‘Welcome to The Jungle’, slated to storm theatres possibly on 26 December 2025.
