The renowned musician succumbed to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis following a two-week hospitalisation. His condition worsened in recent days, leading to his transfer to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Widely considered the greatest tabla player of his era, Zakir Hussain leaves behind a profound musical legacy. He is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola and their daughters, Anisa and Isabella Qureshi. Born on March 9, 1951, to the iconic Ustad Alla Rakha, Zakir’s artistry transcended borders, influencing musicians worldwide.
